Ok, I have never seen so many reviews for one book (900?!?!?!) so I’ll be brief:

Good book. Worth the read- certainly suitable for young adults.
I LOVED the sections that focused on the faeries.
I don’t really have to say more great stuff. I’m sure it’s all been said.

Couple issues I had:

- It was clearly a series opener as there was a little lack of focus. There were other story lines being set up throughout this one.

- I found myself torn and a bit confused as to who to route for. I struggled with Artemis’ lack of morality. I wasn’t ready to see him win in the end. Was I hoping he would get bamboozled by the faeries? Did I want him to win back the family fortune? Not really sure- I didn’t warm up to him as much as perhaps others do.

I’ll read the next book because I’m hoping I’ll get to know Arty better, but I found I was far more drawn to the other characters. Artemis was a bit too amoral and arrogant to win my affection the first time around. Though the couple times he cracked and acted like a real boy, I found it charming.

I’m just curious why there are many of you who believe God wrote the Holy Bible when it was clearly written by men such as Neale as well.

I believed the book to be extremely loving and has given a sense of peace within my life. God is loving and if he is loving I don’t believe he can be vengeful and wrathful as well. He or we created ourselves to experience life in all spectrum’s of life and although I also do not agree with some of the ideas, the premise makes logical and spiritual sense with me.

In the almost-five years since I first read this book, my readerly worldview has shifted drastically. Twilight wasn’t wholly responsible for that change, but it was a catalyst. I once thought this book was RealRealGood, as in “read it multiple times, then loan it out to your five best friends” good (and my friends loaned it to other friends..no telling how many sets of eye-tracks are on my worn out copy). Now, I have a metric ton of problems with Twilight, though I still find it entertaining.

Appealing romantic elements: Love stories serve up an enjoyable, vicarious slice of somebody’s happily ever after, and Twilight is extra-loved because it is almost purely a romance–seriously, the plot and action in the first book feel like they were added at the last minute, like the sprinkle cheese on a casserole. (Note: In the next two books, we get a lot more plot and forward momentum, and a lot less people-sitting-around-falling-in-love, which is a more desirable ratio, IMO) It’s wish fulfillment, but not necessarily in a bad sense. In a certain fashion, love stories are an encouragement, because in real life, a girl fancies a guy and wonders if he likes her back, and in a YA novel the answer is invariably a big “YES”. There’s something comforting about that level of assurance, and it’s not ridiculous to get warm, fuzzy feelings when reading love stories.

However….(Unappealing romantic elements)

Why the love? Bella and Edward’s love story is problematic. I’m going to skip over any co-dependency or emotional abuse issues, and go straight to my big problem with them: I don’t know why they love each other. Sure, “love” is hard to define, but when the characters say they love each other so soon and so emphatically after they meet, it makes one question how they formed such a strong attachment so quickly. I enjoyed this book immensely and have read it several times. Eoin Colfer’s writing is peppered with witty sarcasms and tough, smart heroes; the plot line is exciting and surprising; and the genre is an exciting mix of fantasy and technology-packed action that is sure to satisfy any reader. Even better, there are four more books, with a sixth in the making, as well as an upcoming movie. Read this book, and learn why millions of readers adore Artemis Fowl!!

This thing is amazing, easy to set-up and extremely accurate. I was looking for an alternative to the Nike Plus I was using before and this one nailed down my distance extremely accurately. Best of all it worked with my mac, and was extremely easy to set up. I strongly recommend this to anyone who’s wanting to get serious or is serious about their daily jogging or biking ritual

Artemis Fowl was the recipient of the accusation in the title of this review, but even though he is a thief, he is also much more. The twelve-year-old genius has decided to use his intelligence to pursue a life of crime, so we find an unusual situation. A story with an evil main character is not a completely new concept; Jean-Baptiste Grenouille in the outstanding “Perfume: The Story of a Murderer” or Serge A. Storms in the series of books by Tim Dorsey come to mind. If we go into a different media, then Tony Soprano is one of the most famous examples in our time. What is novel though, is using this concept in a book targeted to young adults, and this is certainly a reason for controversy. I have to say though that the final product is so good, that the good aspects of this effort more than overcome this “drawback”.

Artemis Fowl descends from a prestigious family of billionaires that a few years ago suffered a reversal of fortune. His father has disappeared and is presumed dead and her mother has gone crazy with grief. Artemis is decided to return his family to where it is supposed to be and crafts a plan designed to do just this. To try to accomplish his goal, he uses the help of Butler, a mountain of a man, expert in combat, and who as his name suggests is Artemis’ butler, and Juliet, Butler’s sister. The plan involves kidnapping a fairy and then getting a ransom in gold, which is a lot harder than it sounds.

The story involves a myriad of creatures besides fairies, such as goblins, elves, dwarves, centaurs and trolls. These variety allows the author to create several characters within each one of these groups that are interesting, peculiar and endearing. But the creative process does not stop there, since the author uses some of these peculiar characteristics, as well as some acute comments to make us laugh us loud in the middle of the action. This HDMI cable is definitely worth trying out. I mean, sure, there are better cables out there and sure enough, sometimes this cable doesn’t work. But when you’re comparing $3 with $20, or even $100, it’s hard to buy the more expensive one.

Even after reading all the other reviews saying that this might not work, I decided to try it. Why? Because the other cables or so expensive! I bought this to accompany my new monitor and if it doesn’t work, I still have the VGA cable that it came with and I’ll just go ahead and buy a better cable. But if this cable works, that’s $10 that I didn’t have to spend.

Oh by the way, when I set my computer to output 1080i, the computer screen got smaller. Until I found out that you have to set it to 1080p. Just thought I’d post it.
