What a beautiful book! Our book club read it as a second choice but it quickly became #1. I grew up in this era and never did understand some of the do’s and don’ts I was subjected to. The book answered many of these questions. I only wish my grandmother was still alive so I could ask her….”why?”. I would love to hear her answers as she was a most tolerant and understanding woman. This book is a definite keeper for anyone who has a need to know how the civil rights movement looked from a different perspective, how those most affected feared for their lives, their jobs, and their families if they dared to speak out. The courage and tenacity of Aibiline, Minny and Skeeter brought tears to my eyes many times. A must read!!
A Gift of Grace

This is honestly one of the very best books I have read in a very long time. The author keeps you wanting to turn page after page. I couldn’t put it down. I highly recommend this book.

Even with an open mind, this book killed more brain cells than I could afford. God already wrote a love letter that explains His heart. It runs from Genesis to Revelation. Check it out some time.

I received my carpet cleaner from amazon pretty quick. Quick assembly, and started using it right away. I had my carpets done by a company and they got them pretty clean. I tried this sucker out and it worked better than what the pro’s use. I would highly recommend this product to anyone. Only bad about it is that it was shipped by amazon and not enough tape was used, box was partially open.

I bought the Omron HJ–112 Digital Pocket Pedometer because a friend had one. I love mine. It was easy to set up and works either clipped to my belt or in my pocket. To set it up it helps to have someone help measure out your distance and number of steps. This caculates your individual stride. The instructions tell you how to do it. I wear it all the time and I have had no problems with it. The only thing to remember if using a riding mower or tractor the bouncing around may give you a false reading. I would buy it again and I have recommended it other people.

First off, I bought the I-Touch not for the mp3 player aspect (which is AMAZING..I have owned several different times of mp3 players and this one is amazingly easy to navigate.)

Secondly, I have literally used this EVERY day since I bought it. I have owned it for about 8 months now. My only regret is buying the 8 gig. I am considering buying a larger one and giving this one to the hubby (he he.)

It is really an amazing lil device, and I love the multitude of free apps (and paid…although I have never purchased any due to the eclectic variety of free ones!)

I use my I-Touch for notes, recipes, watching You Tube, FACEBOOK!!!, ebay, googling, games, crosswords, sudoku, texting, word games, words with friends (scrabble-like), and etc.

I am also clumsy at times, and I have dropped my I-touch many times to find no damage to it. It does has minor scratches on the back that I’m not sure how got there because it’s always in a casing, but I never see them because it’s much cuter in the casings. They’re really cheap on EBAY too. Much cheaper there than on Amazon.

Anyway, I am really glad I got my I-touch. For me personally, since I have used it every day, it has been worth every penny. After all, think about how many days of the year you buy crap like gum or what not? That’s what I try to think about it when I make these types of purchases.

I bought my I-touch off Amazon. It’s a trustworthy site, and it’s definitely the cheapest with its free shipping and NO TAX!

I have figured out the following good & bad about Itouch :
GOOD:
1) Itouch = iphone – (calls & sms)
2) Great looking graphics
3) No other player can compete with the graphics & handy controls
4) Supports videos, photos, music & other apps that you can download from apple itunes site
5) long battery life
6) detects rotation,sliding makes it a fun icon for buying
7) Supports Wi-Fi, so internet on the move. So u can access maps, google, social networking sites etc..

BAD:
1) Lot of restrictions applied
2) cant use this as a USB data drive
3) must only copy songs/videos/photos/apps using Itunes software
4) Always keep a backup of the songs/vidoes/photos/apps on your PC. so if ur itouch is using 8GB memory, u also need to store the same copy of all of them on your PC hard disk
5) powering up takes lot of time
6) Controls while playing video is not accurate, needs lot of improvement.
7) Sound clarity is not at all comparable to Zune, Creative Zen, or Sandisk Sansa. The itunes software stores lot of temporary files on the PC hard disk, which eats away most of the space.
9) No apps are free, all have to be only downloaded from apple site, Means apple makes money even after u buy itouch.
10) DRM protected songs cannot be copied
11) if ur Ipod is 8GB, u wont get to use the complete 8GB. Total size will be around 7.10 GB only. rest is used by the itouch itself for it’s system files.
12) only opera browser, so u cant use any others for browsing
13) Bluetooth is worst, some times it detects, sometimes it doesn’t

My final suggestion is that if u r not crazy about the size, graphics, then better dont buy this item as the price it way too high when compared to others with the same/better features.

Title: The Catcher in the Rye by J.D. Salinger

Time spent on the “to read” shelf: 4 or 5 months I think.

Days spent reading it: 4 days.

Why I read it: The Catcher in the Rye is an American classic and very controversial. I honestly wanted to see what was so controversial. Also, it was one of those “classics” that I did not read while in high school. In researching about it later I read that in 1981 it was the most censored book in US high schools and the second most taught book in high schools. It was one of the 10 most challenged books in 2005, but it came off the list in 2006. Those are some fun facts for you.

Brief review:
This book frankly annoyed me. The writing has very repetitive and had many aggravating sayings in it. The word “really” is used almost as much as the curse words that are prevalent throughout the book (one reason it is often censored–I would guess that gd appears 2-3 times a page at minimum, sometimes significantly more). And I assure you, both appear more than they need to, I really mean it.

Holden Caulfield is the main character. He is the epitome of teenage angst. His world is utterly pessimistic. He sees only the bad in everything except his sister and his deceased younger brother. He is bright, but is failing out of school. He is obsessed with sex, but cannot develop a relationship with a girl. He is active and pursues all the pleasure trappings that a big city have, but has no defining meaning to his life.

The book covers three days between him being kicked out of school and his untimely return home. Holden is depressed, hates everyone, exaggerates EVERYTHING (annoyingly so), and seems to have few people skills. In short, he is the perfect anti-hero and irritating enough that I did not like him one bit while reading this book.

I suppose this book speaks to the hearts of some disaffected youth, but they would have to be interested in drudging through 200 pages of dribble in order to find the voic
